Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (Air
tank). This is an aluminum fiberglass wrapped bottle. It is
pressurized with 4500 cubic feet of air. It supplies the firefighter
with approximately 30 minutes of fresh air, to allow access into the
smoke and heat. Without this air it would be hard to rescue people or to
find the fire.
