Thank you for taking the time to visit the San Marino Fire Department.  We are proud of the “San Marino Class” service that we provide to our residents, businesses and visitors.  Those services include fire suppression, paramedic ambulance service, fire prevention inspections, public education programs, emergency preparedness planning, fire cause and origin investigation, fire patrols and code enforcement.  

One of our unique programs is the Neighborhood Emergency Action Team (NEAT) and its business counterpart (BEAT).  These teams are trained and equipped to be self-reliant for an extended period during a major emergency, giving residents and businesses added protection and peace of mind.

Another special program ensures semi-annual inspections, defensible space and daily patrols of homes in our Enhanced Fire Protection Zone.  The goal is to mitigate the fire hazard caused by dense vegetation and steep terrain in this canyon estate area.

In addition to teaching fire prevention classes for the children in our schools, San Marino firefighters also mentor the youth of our community during regular visits to the after-school program at the Teen Center and other recreational groups.   We want to be caring and compassionate role models, encouraging those who might be the firefighters and paramedics of tomorrow.

Our Auxiliary Firefighter program prepares graduates of an accredited fire academy to obtain State Firefighter Certification through a concentrated, 18-month, on-the-job mentoring program.  To become a San Marino firefighter, you must be a graduate of an accredited fire academy and a licensed paramedic.  If you are interested in a career with the San Marino Fire Department, you can start by contacting the fire science department of your community college.
