Qualifications and Requirements

  • Eighteen years of age at time of appointment

  • Proof of High School graduation or GED

  • Proof of legal U.S. Residency

  • Valid California State driver's license

  • Proof of passing general medical examination within the past two years

  • Proof of tetanus inoculation and Hepatitis B Inoculation within the past five years

  • Current California Emergency Medical Technician-B certification

  • Currently sponsored by San Marino Fire Department to an accredited California Fire Academy, or possess a California Firefighter 1 certificate

  • Must be able to provide fire safety turn-out equipment and approved station work uniform

  • Required to volunteer a minimum of three (3) twenty four hour shifts per month and one training day every two months

  • Must show proof of passing Los Angeles Area Fire Chief's Physical Abilities Examination (PAT) or equivalent upon appointment
